Thank you so much to everyone who has been praying about our vehicle need and helping us as we are raising funds. We wanted to share with you a brief update on how the fundraising is going and our goals for a new ministry vehicle.
So far we have been able to raise almost $4,000 towards a vehicle to travel to schools and camps in. We also have another $3,000 that has been pledged towards the project. I met with a local car dealership this week to help figure out what type of vehicle we really need. The main criteria being it will last a long time, fuel efficient, space for hauling students to church and camp, and will be able to get me home if I get caught in bad winter weather while visiting schools. Based on that we are looking at some smaller SUV/Crossovers that might work. Depending on what’s available when our fundraising is through we are needing to raise somewhere between $10,000-$14,000 towards the purchase.
So it looks like based on what funds we have in hand that we need to raise between $7,000-$10,000 more. There are some cheaper options out there, but after much prayer we feel the best way to be stewards of the money God is providing is to get something that will last many years so that we won’t be in this same position in just a couple more years.
So how can you help? As always keep praying that God will provide for this need. We are really praying and asking God to provide something towards the beginning of the upcoming semester before winter weather arrives. Next, would you prayerfully consider partnering with us financially to help us get this ministry vehicle? If so you can click on the link on the right of this post to go to our ministry giving page. Or maybe you or your business have an extra vehicle you would just like to donate?
Thank you so much for praying with us!
Thank you all so much for for praying for our current vehicle situation. As we shared earlier our family van is dying leaving us with only the hatchback that I drive to schools currently.
After much prayer we have decided to let Erin have my hatchback to drive and try to raise funds for a ministry vehicle through FCA that can be used for visiting schools, taking students and coaches to camps, and taking our family to visit churches and supporters. Ideally we would like something with a 3rd row so that we can take more people. However, our main desire is to have something that will fit our family and luggage, low mileage, and dependable for long trips and many years of ministry.
Since our last prayer letter we were blessed with a $3,000 gift to our FCA account to help kick off fundraising for this ministry vehicle. Our friends who made this donation and Erin and I are hopeful that this will jumpstart the funds needed to purchase this vehicle. If you would like to know more about our personal fundraising goal and what we are looking for please feel free to contact me (Andy) any time. If you would like to donate towards this ministry vehicle, you can click on the link on the side of this page and do a one time donation through our online giving page, where you will receive a receipt for tax credits.
Thank you so much for praying for our family and please pray that we will be able to reach the needed funds soon. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for checking in our our ministry update website. Erin and I wanted to send out a prayer request about a need that we currently have without sending out an email to our entire mailing list so soon after our last newsletter. Over the past couple of years we have shared with you prayer requests about our van and repairs we have had to do to keep it going on there road. God blessed us with a great van that we have been able to use for our family and many ministry related events. However, now our van is almost 12 years old and the transmission is going. After a trip to the mechanic, we were advised to keep our van off the interstate, under 60 mph and try to sell it while it is still running.
For the past couple of weeks, Erin and I have been praying and seeking God’s will for what we should do to about our current transportation situation. With me being on the road all the time with FCA we simply must have two vehicles for our family. Also, because my car is a small hatchback we need something bigger for trips where our whole family has to go and/or we are taking students some place.
After much prayer we have decided the best thing to do would be to try and get a vehicle for me to use for ministry. Then Erin could take my car for a year to use around Richmond and on day trips for her and the kids. In a year when my hatchback is paid off at that time we can begin looking for a family vehicle.
FCA has given us a couple of options for getting a ministry vehicle. First and best, one can be donated to FCA and designated for me to use for traveling to schools, meetings, camps, speaking engagements and all other needs. Secondly, we also have the option of raising funds through our FCA account to purchase a vehicle that would belong to FCA but be for our use, just as though the whole car was donated.
We are praying that God would provide either a vehicle that would meet our needs or finances to purchase one through our FCA Staff account. Our ideal vehicle would fit our family of 4 and maybe more if possible, have room for luggage, low miles and dependable for long trips, and front wheel drive or better head AWD since many of the schools I go to are in rural areas.
So how can you help? Please pray! Pray with us that we will trust God through this whole process and be patient as we wait on his provision. Pray that our van keeps running well enough for Erin to get around Richmond until we are able to get a 2nd vehicle. Pray with us as we look into some fundraisers and possibly meeting with some people that might be able to help us through donating a car or giving towards one. Pray that the right car, suv, truck, or whatever will be used for years of reaching students and coaches and athletes for Christ will be directed our way. If you or anyone you know would like to donate towards this need you can click the link on the right of this page and do so that way. Also, if you know anyone who has a vehicle that they would like to donate to a great non-profit ministry feel free to point them our way. More than anything though please keep praying for us. It’s a stressful time, but it’s also a time where we know we can see God do something amazing. Thank you as always for your prayers and for loving our family.
