Summer is officially here for us today as the first week of camp at Youth Haven Bible Camp kicks off. I (Andy) am heading out bright and early to help pick up campers for Teen Week and we can’t wait to see what God is going to in the lives of these teens!
Since our last post much has happened. On Memorial Day weekend we held our annual End of School Teen Lock-In outreach at the Rec Center. We had 85 teens join us for the night and probably had our best behaved group ever. They listened very intently as Andy’s dad William challenged them about the choices that they will be facing in life and the ultimate choice of whether or not to trust Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We do have a couple of prayer requests about this outreach for you to add to your prayer list. First of all be praying that the seed that were sown for the Gospel will be grow and these students will make decisions for Christ. Also, please pray for us as we seek God for wisdom in the future of our lock-in outreaches. These are by far our biggest and most impactful outreaches, but with each lock-in it’s getting harder and harder to find chaperones who will stay all night. There comes a point where there kids outnumber staff by too much. So please pray that people will catch a vision and fire for this outreach and step up to volunteer their time all night for these teens to hear the Gospel!
Last week, we had the privilege of joining one of our supporting churches, Davidson Baptist Church, in Hazard, KY for their annual Vacation Bible School. Andy loved spending the week teaching the teens in a study through the book of Daniel. It was great to be able to talk to the teens about how they Christ is their leader, how they can follow Him, trust Him, and stay on track in their walk with Christ. We were truly blessed by the by the love and kindness our brothers and sisters at Davidson Baptist poured on us last week!
On Friday night we held our first Outdoor Movie Night of the summer at the Lee County Rec Center. The outdoor movie night’s give us a chance to invite families from the community to the Rec Center to come see all the Rec has to offer and to build relationships with them. We had a great turn out of families and our own kids had a great time watching the movie and playing with all the other children too!
We are still in the middle of our fundraising for FCA Leadership Camp. We currently need to raise about $300 more to take our students to camp as well as pay for the fuel to get them there. Our students are still speaking to their churches and talking to family and friends about their fundraising needs. Please pray that all the needed finances will come in and pray for our students as they prepare for camp!
Our family is doing great and Maeven and Judah are both excited to start Cubs Camp today at Youth Haven. They both love the opportunity to play with the other kids, ride horses and swim. We are also very excited to be once again going to FCA Leadership Camp in a couple of weeks. It’s a great time for us to get refreshed spiritually as a family and for us to have our kids involved first hand with our student ministry.
Thank you so much for checking in on our updates and please keep praying for us!
One of the best things about summer ministry is being able to participate in various Vacation Bible Schools. For the past couple of years the Rec Center has been blessed to have a group from Kilgore, TX come up and do a VBS here for a week. We are excited to share that they are coming back again this year! God has truly blessed this outreach and we have seen several students make the decision to follow Christ as a result. Below is the information on our VBS and we would like to ask you to begin praying now that God will work mightily through this outreach and that many students would come to know Christ as their personal savior. Also, if you live in our area or are visiting we would love to have you bring your 5 through 13 year old students to join us! Hope to see you there!
