Last week we asked you to be praying for Maeven and Judah as they went back to school this week. Well, yesterday was their first day of classes and both survived! Judah was quiet and nervous as he went to his first day, but did great. Of course his two favorite things were lunch and recess. Maeven started her homeschool classes and did excellent. It’s big adjustment for her as a social butterfly to be home just with Mom, but so far so good. She is really excited for next week when she goes to her homeschool co-op and is able to hang out with other kids. Thank you so much for your prayers and please keep praying with us that our kids have an excellent school year, do great with their studies, make lots of friends, and also that they will grow in their relationships with and be bold for Christ!
Maeven and Judah at his Kindergarten Open House
This weekend as you are praying for the week ahead, please remember to be praying for our kids as they will be starting another school year. Judah is off to Kindergarten and will be experiencing all those firsts of heading to school. We are so thankful that he was able to be put into an inclusive classroom that has less students and teachers and aids that are trained to work with autism.
Also, please be praying for Maeven as she will be heading into her first year of homeschooling. (Pray for Erin too!) This is going to be a big difference for her as 2nd grade will be at home and also in a local homeschool co-op. We really feel God has led us to do this for at least this year and that hopefully she will do even better academically, her body will continue to heal from Celiac disease and cross contamination in public school, and most importantly that it will strengthen her walk with Christ.
Thank you so much for the way you love and pray for our family!
It’s been a little while since our last update and I would like to apologize for that. Even though we have been busy and behind on our updates, we do thank you for your much needed and appreciated prayers and support!
Since your last post, many of our school year ministries have began again. All of our bowling leagues are back up and going at the Rec Center. After a slow summer it’s great to have many of our bowlers returning as well as new bowlers. Please pray that through these leagues we will have opportunities to build relationships and share Christ!
Last Monday, our After School Jr. Bowling League started again with over 50 local elementary and middle school age kids attending. During this league we pick up students after school every Monday and bring them to the Rec Center for bowling and pizza. Through teaching them bowling skills and just getting to know them, we hope to share with our students about how much jesus loves them. Also, once a month myself or someone else will be leading a devotion with our students. Please pray that through this league both our parents and students will clearly hear about Christ and accept Him as their personal Savior!
With the new school year also comes the return of our FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) Huddles. These are weekly meetings in the local high school and middle school where we are able to both share Jesus and disciple students in the schools. This year our FCA theme is “All In” and we have been challenging our students to go “All In” in their relationships with Christ and truly make Him Lord of their lives. So far our middle school huddle is really growing, but our high school huddle has been down this year. Pray that we will be able to have a great impact for Christ in our schools.
Our family is doing really well. Maeven has started attending a local daycare once a week and has been really excited about getting to hang out with other little kids her own age. Judah is going through the joys of potty training, but is pretty happy as long as he has his stuff elephant with him. Erin is doing well, but still has some daily struggles with her gluten allergy and herniated disk. Please keep praying for health and well being. I (Andy) have been battling some sinus allergies, but have really enjoyed being able to be able to read with our kids and share Jesus with them each night before bed.
God is doing some awesome things and we thank you so much for your partnership in the ministry here!
Recovering……very….very…very…slowly. That’s how my body (Andy) feels at the moment. Last Friday night we held our annual End of the School Year Teen Lock-In Outreach at the Lee County Recreational Center. Over 128 local teens joined us for a great night. I had the privilege of sharing the devotion at this year’s lock-in with our teens. Through the story of the Prodigal Son I shared wit the teens about how no matter what they have done they are valuable to God and He wants to have a personal relationship with them. After the devotion, I had the opportunity to speak with one of our students. While he didn’t make a decision, God was really working in his heart and mind. Please join me in praying that we will have a chance to talk more again soon!
This week things are very busy once again as we have two major events planned. On Friday night we are having an auction fundraiser to help raise funds for the Rec Center. We have had many items donated from local businesses and individuals in our community that we will be auctioning off as well as having a cookout! If you are interested in donating something for the auction we would greatly appreciate it. Also, we would love for you to attend. Check out the attached flyer for more info!
On Saturday night, we are having a smaller scale lock-in from 5pm-9pm for elementary age kids. I (Andy) will once again be giving a devotion, so please pray for me as I prepare and pray that our students will be receptive to God’s Word! Also, we are in need of chaperones to come help us with this outreach!
Our kids are doing great. They have been busy enjoying the summer weather and playing with puppies. Both of the kids have been able to spend time at the Rec Center lately and have loved socializing with all the students and bowlers that have been there.
As always, thank you so much for your continued prayers and support. Also, below is a video of my devotional from the End of School Teen Lock-In if you would like to watch.
This week at the Rec Center we have a missions team from Texas that will be putting on a daily VBS. Last year, this same group put on a VBS that averaged over 40 kids a day. We are really excited to see what God will do at this year’s Camp Mighty Warrior! Please pray that God will use this week and that man kids will make decisions to follow Christ!
