Hey there, we hope this update finds you enjoying your last week of 2016. A few weeks ago we shared with you about our financial goals for reaching full support by the end of this year. While we haven not yet reached full support God has been blessing and we are moving towards our goal steadily. Currently, we sit at 75% of our total support goal of getting full funded for personal expenses and all ministry expenses. We need to raise about $500 more a month to have all personal expenses covered and $1200 a month to cover all ministry expenses. Ministry expenses are things like travel to our schools, Bibles and study materials for coaches and athletes, and the ability to scholarship coaches and athletes to FCA camps and conferences.
So how can you help? If you are already partnering with us financially we thank you and ask you to faithfully pray for the rest of our support to come in and for opportunities to share Christ as we build our ministry with FCA. Also, many of you have been sharing on social media about our ministry and with your family and friends. We thank you and ask everyone to please considering sharing with your family and friends too!
If you are not already partnering with us, please pray about how God would lead you in partnering with us. We are looking and asking for committed financial partners who will make monthly or yearly commitments to help partner with us in ministry. The easiest way to do this is to click on the donate link on the side of this page. You will then be taken to our myFCA page where you can set up online giving. If you register as an Automatic Monthly Partner you can set up for your monthly partnership support to be taken automatically each month. Your first donation will be taken on the day you give and then on the 20th of each month afterwards. If you would rather send support through the mail, please message me for details on how to do so.
So how will you partner with us? However God leads you, we appreciate your prayers. God is faithful and even though we have a ways to go for being totally funded we know He will provide!
Thank you to everyone who has been praying for Erin and our family over the past few weeks since she was diagnosed with breast cancer. We are so thankful for our ministry family with FCA who have been very supportive and are allowing us whatever time we need for Erin’s appointments, tests, surgeries and etc.
During this time though we are still trying to get as plugged in as we can to our new ministry with Fellowship of Christian Athletes and are so excited to share with you what God is doing. Last week, I (Andy), was able to travel to Powell County where both the Powell County Middle and High Schools partnered together to put on their first ever Fields of Faith outreach. These schools are near and dear to us as some of our friends from Emmanuel Baptist Church are working as huddle sponsors and many of our former youth group students are involved in FCA. Around 30 students and 10 adults came out to this even where the students shared their testimonies, read scripture and sang praises. It was exciting to see many of these students sharing about their walk with Christ for the first time! We are so excited to see what God is going to do through these faithful students, teachers, and coaches in Powell County this school year and at many more Fields of Faith outreaches to come!
At the end of the week, I was able to go to Madison Southern’s monthly club day FCA Huddle. I lost count of how many students where there at around 70 students, but if I had to guess there were close to 100 students who gathered in the school gym for their Huddle. It was awesome to watch their leadership team put on a skit that talked about the power that sin has on us and how only Christ can set us free. After the skit, one of the students share a devotional and part of her testimony. During her talk, Ms. Bevins, one of the teacher sponsors, pointed out to me just how close of attention the students were paying to the girl speaking. Sure enough almost 100 students were totally focused on this student sharing from the Bible. Not a single mobile phone was out or conversation was being had. All the students were focused on the message. It was awesome to see just how powerfully God can use students to impact their fellow students!
This week, I was able to return to Lee County on Tuesday and go to our Huddle at Lee County High School. It was great to see students that we have worked with over the past several years and to seek KMM intern Jeremy Holt, leading them through a Bible study. I also had the opportunity to speak to a Pastor’s Fellowship group on Tuesday in Lee County where I was able to present to them about the ministry of FCA and how they can partner with us. It’s awesome to be able to share what God is doing with FCA and specifically the goals and passions that He has given Erin and I to minister with FCA.
As you know Erin and I have been working on becoming fully funded as missionaries with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Currently we are at 67% of our monthly support goal and have set a few bench marks we want to reach during these last two months of 2016. Our first goal is that by the end of November we hope to raise another $1,200 a month in financial support. This will put us at 84% of our total support goal.
Our second benchmark is that we hope to reach full financial support by the end of December 2016. This means we need to raise around $2,300 more a month in monthly commitments by the end of the year. When full funded we will be able not only to take care of all personal expenses such as salary, insurance, etc., but also be able to cover all our ministry expenses such as travel to schools, Bibles and Bible study materials, and also funds to help send coaches and students to camps and conferences.
So where do you come in? If you are already part of our support home team we thank you for your financial and prayer partnership and ask you to keep praying for us that we will reach these financial goals in 2016. We also ask you to pray that over the next few weeks I will be able to schedule many support appointments as possible. We realize that in December once Erin has her surgery there will be a three week period of helping with her recovery where we will not be able to get out for these appointments. So please pray we can make the most of the time we have in November.
If you are one of our many friends that we have already spoken or met with about joining our Home Team and you have committed to partnering with us, but haven’t done so, we would like to ask you to join us now. We know it’s a busy time of year, but your partnership would be a huge blessing to us and also allows us to get into more of our schools right away! Please pray about what that commitment might look like for you and your family and join us as soon as possible.
Lastly, maybe you have not made any sort of commitment to partner with us in this new ministry, but feel that God maybe leading you to do so. We would like to ask you to join us now. Please feel free to contact us about ways to partner with us, or click on the link on the side of this page where you can set up online giving right away. Also, if you know of anyone we haven’t talked to yet about our ministry with FCA and should please let us know too!
Thank you all for your time, prayers, and support. Please remember our family during this time. Pray with us for Erin’s health and pray with us that we can be fully funded and fully engaged in ministry with FCA soon!
Greetings from Richmond, KY where we are continuing to get plugged into our new life and new ministry with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. This week I (Andy) have been able to start visiting some schools in our Central Kentucky FCA region. One school is one that I will be regularly covering and working with. And while I didn’t get to meet everyone involved with FCA there, it was great to make contact and see how they are already doing great things for Christ at their school. I also had the chance to travel with Jonathan, another FCA Representative, and visit one of his schools that he covers. It was great to see first hand his interaction with the students and what a huddle that’s different than the ones I have worked with looks like. I am excited to get to travel with some more of our FCA staff over the next few weeks and see what their ministries with the schools look like.
This week, I have also been given the task of working on our Central Kentucky FCA website. I always enjoyed working on the Rec Center website and helping my mom with the KMM website, so it was nice to hop into something I really enjoy and that can help with our local FCA office. I’m still not completely done with the site and I am sure I will be making regular changes as I figure things out, but be sure to check out http://www.ckyfca.org and see how our regional site works.
Since our newsletter went out last week we have been blessed to have a couple of more people come on to our Home Support Team. We are at about 65% of our total support goal of where we want to be to cover all our living and ministry expenses. Erin and I are praying that God will provide ministry partners in the next two weeks that will total up to $1,200 in monthly support commitments. This amount will not put us at our over all goal, but will be enough to cover all our living expense and our basic ministry travel expenses. Would you please pray about if God would have you to join our home team. There is a donate link on our http://www.ckyfca.org page where you can go and click on my name Andy Owens and it will take you directly to our MY FCA page where you can give online. No matter what please pray with us for the remainder of our support team to come in and also that many who have made commitments will begin their support soon.
I’d like to end this post on a non ministry related note. This Friday, September 30th we are celebrating our sweet girl, Maeven’s 6th birthday!!! We can’t believe its already been 6 years that God has blessed us with such a wonderful daughter. Maeven has had a busy week of celebrating her birthday with friends and family. We’ve also been getting great reports on how she is doing at school and her teacher was so happy that Maeven is kind to everyone. Erin and I are so thankful for Maeven (and Judah too!) and can’t wait to see how God is going to use her!
Here is our final prayer letter from our time with KMM. Many of you should be getting a hard copy in the mail any day now. On the second page is detailed information about how you can join our support “Home Team” with FCA. We are currently at about 60% of our goal, and would love to have you join us! Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. Thanks so much for your faithful support and prayers!
