We had a great 2018 FCA Leadership Camp at Campbellsville University. Thank you so much for praying for us and the over 700 campers, staff, and volunteers. We are so thankful to see all the lives that were changed for Christ this past week. Please watch the video below to get a small glimpse of how awesome Leadership Camp was!
It’s that time of year again where Erin and I (Andy) are busy getting our FCA Leadership team together for next school year and also preparing them to go to this summer’s National FCA Leadership Camp a Campbellsville University. This year our camp theme is UnDefeated and come from the book of 1 Corinthians 15:57, which talks about how as believers we have complete victory in Christ. At camp student’s will be taught how to serve Christ and live undefeated lives for Him. We pray that God will use this week to train them to be bold in their faith and possibly consider future full time ministry.
We are excited this year for both camp and our new leadership team as we will be pretty much starting over from las year’s team. The class of students we have worked with on our leadership team the past few years is graduating next week. So the team we are putting together for next year will be 8th grade leaders at LCMS next year and some will be Freshman coming into our LCHS Huddle. Two students that are going went with us last year to camp and we have seen great growth in their lives at last year’s leadership camp and then through helping in their huddles this year. We are excited to see them step up into even more of a leadership role this year.
One of the biggest things with FCA Leadership Camp that we face every year is the needed funds to take our students to camp. It costs $225 per student to attend and then we have fuel and travel expenses on top of that. Currently we need to raise enough money for six students to attend camp, and another $310 for my family to go too. While the students are in their leadership training sessions, Erin and I attend classes and training sessions as well. They also have a mini-day camp for Maeven and Judah to attend so that we can participate.
Our students have been busy sending out letters to supporters to raise money for them to attend camp and so far most are doing well. We have a couple though that really need more help than what their letters are providing for them. Would you please consider helping support our students and our family as we go to FCA Leadership Camp this summer. At the moment we are are about $1,400 short of the total we need to raise for camp and travel fees. Please pray for our students and if you would like to support our Lee County FCA Leadership team to go to camp this summer please send your support to:

This camp is life changing for our students and their relationship with Christ. Won’t you be part of this life change?
Andy helping hold items up at the Rec Center Auction
The camp season is in full swing and the busyness of summer is here too. Since our last ministry update much has happened. On June 13th we held our first ever Auction Fundraiser for the Lee County Recreational Center. So many people were generous in their donation of gifts and auction items and so many were generous in their participation of the auction. God really blessed this fundraiser and well over $2,300 was raised to help the Rec Center. We are truly thankful for the way God blessed this fundraiser!
There was no rest time from this busy event as the very next night we held a Pre-Teen Cosmic Party for the elementary age students in our community. It’s very much like a lock-in outreach but only lasts four hours rather than all night. We had a smaller turn out of only 19 kids, but I (Andy) was able to share the Gospel with them and really got to interact and build relationships with many of the kids.
On Monday last week, we had the opportunity to help bring students to Youth Haven Bible Camp’s Teen Camp. Over 136 teens attend camp at YHBC. We were excited as several of our FCA students participated in the camp and many decisions were made for Christ!
This week we are gearing up to head out on Thursday morning for FCA Leadership Camp. All 8 of our students were able to raise enough funds to go to camp and have been very dedicated in Bible studies and leadership prep as we prepared to go to camp. Please join us in praying for safety as we travel to and from Leadership Camp. Pray for our students that God will use this week of training to prepare them to impact their school’s for Christ and possibly even that this week will be used by God to call them on to Bible College and full time ministry.
We would also like you to continue to pray for the Air Conditioning situation a the Rec Center. We desperately need our AC fixed as the warm weather is really taking a toll on the amount of bowlers we have and even some of our groups that we normally get in. We know that we serve a God who is all powerful and can make sure this problem gets fixed. Please join us in praying it will be soon!
Maeven having fun @ YHBC
Maeven and Judah have been loving their summer so far. They have participated in “Cubs Camp,” YHBC’s day camp for kids who are too young for the regular weeks of camp. Both have enjoyed playing with other kids in the community, swimming, riding horses, and hearing Bible lessons. Maeven was also able to participate this past week in her first VBS at our church. She was so excited to share with us how she learned that Jesus is alive at VBS!
As always thank you so very much for your prayers and support!!!
Judah enjoying sliding at Church!
Greetings from the land of the Big Blue Nation! We are all excited here as we get to cheer on our Wildcats in tonight’s basketball national championship game. Erin and I have a group of our students who we hope to take to FCA Leadership camp coming over tonight to plan camp registration fundraisers and to cheer on our team! While we would never ask you to pray for UK, we do ask you to be praying for these students as we seek to disciple them and to raise the funds necessary to take them to FCA Leadership Camp this summer!
Since our last post we have had lots of things going on here. Our bowling leagues have been super busy and weather has finally been cooperating enough that people have been coming back out. Finally being able to have back to back weeks in our Jr. Bowling League has led to more students coming back out which means more that we can interact with and share the love of Jesus with.
In our FCA Huddles we have been sharing with the students the importance of being a servant and how Christ came as a servant. Getting the chance to go through Phillipians with our students and talk about how Christ emptied Himself of His Glory in order to come and be a servant and die for our sins and rise again has been a huge blessing to us. It has allowed us to go a little bit deeper with our students and we are seeing growth in their lives as we do so!
Erin was finally able to have the March monthly meeting of “The Well!” Several mothers came out including some new faces. It was a huge encouragement to Erin as these women opened up and shared honestly about the issues that were going on in their lives and were able to encourage and pray with and for one another. Please pray that these women will keep coming!
Our family is doing well and the kids have been keeping us busy. Between watching Frozen over and over and listening to both kids sings songs from the movie, Erin and I have been thoroughly entertained. Last week for the first time the kids were able to experience Chuck E. Cheese’s. Judah loved riding the mechanical horse and Maeven squirting the water gun games. They have truly been a joy to us and we love seeing them grow each day!
As always thank you so much for your prayers and support!
1. Pray for our FCA Leadership Team as we begin to raise funds for Leadership Camp.
2. Pray for our teen Sunday School Class as we start teaching a section on defending your faith this weekend.
3. Pray for upcoming fundraisers for the Rec Center!
For the past couple of weeks we have been battling various flu and other illness issues. Andy actually got so sick last week that he spent most of the week at home being medicated and trying to get better. Between fighting off a bug herself and keeping up with the kids when Andy was sick or at work Erin had reached the point of exhaustion. With all the physical issues and just busyness of ministry spiritually we were both feeling down as well. Thankfully we serve a great God who knows right when we need those times of recovery and refreshment.
This weekend Andy’s parents were able to keep our kids and KMM missionary Rose Harrison was able to house and dog-sit for us as we attended the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Coach and Spouse conference at the Griffin Gate Marriott in Lexington. It was a great time of praising God through song, hearing testimonies of how God is using coaches and spouses to impact students for Christ, getting ideas for our FCA program, and just being fed and encouraged about making our marriages stronger in Christ! We thoroughly enjoyed our time with other like-minded believers. On top of the time of spiritual renewal and refocus on Christ, we hate to admit it, but a night away in a very comfortable bed without any threat of kids crying in the middle of the night was very nice. We are thankful to now be home with our kids, but for our one nigh away we are thankful too!
This week things get back to normal sort of. After a weekend of fellowshipping with other FCA leaders we are excited to get back to our students and begin preparations to seek out who will go to leadership camp this summer and step up as leaders in our huddles. God has been doing great things with our students and we pray that they will continue to grow!
As always thank you for your continued prayer and support!
