This past weekend we held our annual FCA Victory Banquet. At the banquet we shared about all that God is doing with our various ministries of FCA. Erin and I wanted to share with you all two of the videos that were shown at our Banquet. The first video shares testimonies of a couple of athletes and a coach at UK about how God has used FCA to impact them. The second video has testimonies of coaches and athletes in our high and middle school ministries sharing about how the have been impacted by FCA camps, coaches ministry, campus ministry, and community ministries. We hope you enjoy these videos and find them informative. If you have any questions about anything you see or how you can partner with us, please let us know!
It’s that time of year again where Erin and I (Andy) are busy getting our FCA Leadership team together for next school year and also preparing them to go to this summer’s National FCA Leadership Camp a Campbellsville University. This year our camp theme is UnDefeated and come from the book of 1 Corinthians 15:57, which talks about how as believers we have complete victory in Christ. At camp student’s will be taught how to serve Christ and live undefeated lives for Him. We pray that God will use this week to train them to be bold in their faith and possibly consider future full time ministry.
We are excited this year for both camp and our new leadership team as we will be pretty much starting over from las year’s team. The class of students we have worked with on our leadership team the past few years is graduating next week. So the team we are putting together for next year will be 8th grade leaders at LCMS next year and some will be Freshman coming into our LCHS Huddle. Two students that are going went with us last year to camp and we have seen great growth in their lives at last year’s leadership camp and then through helping in their huddles this year. We are excited to see them step up into even more of a leadership role this year.
One of the biggest things with FCA Leadership Camp that we face every year is the needed funds to take our students to camp. It costs $225 per student to attend and then we have fuel and travel expenses on top of that. Currently we need to raise enough money for six students to attend camp, and another $310 for my family to go too. While the students are in their leadership training sessions, Erin and I attend classes and training sessions as well. They also have a mini-day camp for Maeven and Judah to attend so that we can participate.
Our students have been busy sending out letters to supporters to raise money for them to attend camp and so far most are doing well. We have a couple though that really need more help than what their letters are providing for them. Would you please consider helping support our students and our family as we go to FCA Leadership Camp this summer. At the moment we are are about $1,400 short of the total we need to raise for camp and travel fees. Please pray for our students and if you would like to support our Lee County FCA Leadership team to go to camp this summer please send your support to:

This camp is life changing for our students and their relationship with Christ. Won’t you be part of this life change?
Since our last update, our fall ministry schedule has really taken off. This past week, we began going back to school as our FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) ministries began. On Thursday, Andy went back to Lee County High School to kick off our weekly FCA After School Bible Study. This year we are going to to be going through a study by Lifeway called Fuel: Ignited. The study does for weeks on different topics that teens are dealing with from dating relationships to family relationships. Our first four weeks we are going to be studying about what the Bible says about friendships. Our first study we talked about what the study was going to look like and gave a preview of the lessons. We then spent some time praying about different needs going on with the students and school system. Please pray that this coming week and the weeks thereafter this Bible study will grow and impact our students as they dive deeper into God’s Word.
On Friday, Lee County High School held it’s first monthly club day of the year. During club day we held one FCA club period in the morning and one in the afternoon. We talked with the students about all that we are going to be studying and doing in our FCA club days, after school Bible study, and weekly huddles. Of course the students listened well and seemed really excited, although that could be due to the pizza we brought them!
As we move into this next week, we continue to get started back in our school year ministries. On Tuesday morning our high school FCA huddle starts back and on Thursday morning our middle school FCA huddle starts. We are going to be introducing our FCA them for this year, Relentless, to the students. Please be praying that they will grow this year and become Relentless in their pursuit of a deeper relationship with Christ and Relentless in sharing Christ with others!
On Thursday night, Erin and a couple of other KMM missionary ladies will be hosting the first meeting of The Well since last spring. This week is a get to know you get together, where mothers of young children are invited to come out participate in some different activities, eat, and have a devotional time. Please pray for Erin and the others as they prepare for this week that they will be an encouragement to these mothers. Pray that those mother’s who don’t know Christ will accept Him as a result of this ministry and that those who do know Christ will be encouraged to grow in their walk with Him.
In family news, our kids are doing great. Maeven is enjoying having some company to play with as Erin is babysitting two little boys a couple of days a week. Judah has discovered a new love of Winnie the Pooh. He has a new stuffed Pooh that he carries around in a big bear hug, daring anyone to take his new buddy.
Thank you so much for your prayers and continued support!
January has been an interesting month for the Owens Family thus far. Lots of exciting ministry things happening and lots of sickness at home. Andy has been busy the past couple of weekends helping coach the Lee County High School Bowling Team. It’s been really exciting to build new friendships with our students and renew old ones while being an assistant coach. The team is doing pretty well and we are gearing up for Regionals the last weekend in January!
The annual Biggest Loser competition at the Rec Center is going well with over 20 participants so far who have joined. Andy is also participating (but not eligible for prizes) to hopefully help not only get himself healthier but also to encourage some others who are in the contest to do well also!
Erin helped lead another monthly meeting of “The Well” last Thursday at Youth Haven Bible Camp. KMM Missionary Amy Brandenburg talked to the ladies about couponing and Erin led a devotion with the ladies and also share several online Christian resources for mothers to use. Please pray for the ladies attending and that this ministry will continue to grow!
At home for the past two weeks we have been battling various bugs and viruses. Just when we think we are through someone else catches something again. Nauseas kids, fevers, and mom and dad sick has made for some pretty miserable days. Also, Judah is teething with multiple teeth that could break through any time, which leads to late nights of being up with a crying baby boy. Please pray that we will be able to get healthy and strengthened soon.
Our next big outreach at the Rec Center is on February 3, 2013 when we have our annual Super Bowl Outreach Party. We invite anyone who wants to come to join us for the game which will be playing on multiple screens at the Rec Center. At half time we gather everyone who attends to watch a dvd for Sports Spectrum, a Christian sports magazine. On this year’s dvd members of the 2011 New York Giants Super Bowl Championship team who will be sharing their testimonies and the Gospel. Pray that this will impact our students greatly for Christ that they will either be bolder in sharing their faith or if they have not yet done so accept Christ as their personal Savior and Lord!
Thanks so much for all your prayers and support!!!
