One of our favorite outreaches of the many that KMM has is the YHBC Annual Couples Retreat. This has been such a blessing to Erin and I personally each year and we love to invite other couples to come enjoy a great weekend away together where they can get refreshed and grow in their relationships with God and each other. This year we are excited as the speaker is Dr. Scott Wigginton, who we had the pleasure of hearing at an FCA Couple retreat a few years ago. Also, the music is being led by some dear friends of ours from Erin’s home church in Charleston, WV, Bible Center Church. We would love for you to come join us for this exciting weekend! Below is all the info you need, so fill it out and come join us March 4-5! Did I mention there is an all you can eat steak dinner???

Greetings from Beattyville and from the Owens Family. Much has been going on since our last post and we want to bring you up to date. Ministry wise things have really been going very busy, but very well at the same time. Last week, Erin and the other KMM ladies held the November meeting of The Well. Erin was able to share with the ladies about prayer about how we should pray and also share requests and pray with each other. During the Well, Maeven and Judah enjoyed the kids ministry ran by KMM missionaries Pam Price and Shirl Fryer and both came home very excited.
Our FCA Huddles were very busy last week and in both the middle and high schools we also talked with students about prayer. After discussing prayer the students broke into small groups and spent time sharing requests and praises and then praying with and for each other. In our Thursday afternoon after school Bible study, Andy had the opportunity to begin a four week section on spiritual disciplines. The first week of this study was talking and seeing what the Bible says about the importance of fellowshipping and being part of the church. Hearing students asking questions and talking about the need to get more involved in their churches.
The annual FCA Weekend of Champions was held this Saturday and we took 19 high and middle school students with us. This was by far the largest group that we have taken over the past four years, but seeing this amount of students getting excited about sharing Christ in their schools was very encouraging. Our students were able to take seminars on how to share and defend their faith, praise God through lots of awesome worship music, hear testimonies of college athletes, and hear messages from former University of Kentucky basketball players Cameron Mills and Jeff Sheppard. Please join us in praying that our students will now take what they have learned and been challenged with this past weekend and be bold in their schools!
Our family has been battling different sicknesses that have been going around. Both Maeven and Judah have battled colds and fevers but are now recovering well. I have been down the past couple of days with some sort of cold/allergies that have left me miserable and hoarse. Erin is still dealing with her continuing health issues. This Friday we are finally going for her MRI’s and praying for good and definite results so that she can get the treatment she needs and feel better soon! Please join us in praying for her health!
As always thank you for your continued prayers and support!
Greetings from Beattyville. This week God has really blessed in our ministries here with KMM. The first blessing was that Erin was able to help out with all of our FCA Huddles at the high school and middle school this week. Due to health issues and babysitting, she hasn’t been able to go with me until this past week. Having her their to interact with the kids and input in to our talks was a huge blessing. I love being able to partner with her in sharing God’s Word!
As I mentioned last week, this has been a very long and busy week at the Rec Center. Some of our help had vacation this week, which meant some very long hours away from home. However, God was great and gave lots of energy and always just enough help to get through every event and outreach. He also blessed by making sure that all the bowling equipment kept running right along without breaking down!
Our Thursday after school Bible study grew again this week as we dived into what the Bible says about friendships. Specifically this week we talked about how to react to betrayal by friends and why we should seek to restore broken friendships. Having a study with middle and high school students you get all kinds of interesting feedback, but it’s been awesome to see growth in the lives of the students.
Our family is doing great Both Maeven and Judah got hair cuts this week when they went to visit their Meme and PopPop for a couple of days. It was weird seeing Judah with his hair so short, but he is still as cute as ever and has kept his little curls! Maeven is happy because she can still pull her hair up like a princess. She is also getting excited as she approaches her 3rd birthday next week and gets a “Big Girl” bed!
I would like to ask you to be praying for Erin as she has had some health problems over the past couple of months. This past weeks she has had some tests and we are currently waiting on the results. Please pray for wisdom for her doctors and that we will find out what is wrong soon and get her on the road to feeling better.
Thank you so much for your continued support and prayers!
Our fall ministry schedule is off and full steam ahead. This past week was awesome as God has continued to bless. All of our FCA huddles and Bible studies continued to grow. I had the opportunity to speak our huddles about how God loves us Relentlessly and wants a relationship with us. In our after school Bible study we continued our study on what the Bible says about friendships, specifically diving into how cliques and favoritism hurt our testimonies with those around us. Getting interaction with the students and feedback has been great and we are truly excited to see how they are going to grow this year!
At the Rec Center, all our leagues are now into full swing. On Monday, last week 63 students came out for our after school jr. Bowling outreach. I spent most of the league helping a group of k through 3rd graders learn to bowl and especially one little girl who couldn’t even carry her own bowling ball. It was great getting to know the students and seeing how they smiled
even knocking over just one pin. Many parents and grandparents were in the Rec Center to see their kids, giving us another great ministry opportunity.
This week is going to be extremely busy as all our outreaches and ministries are going and at the same time we are a bit short on staff. That being said, it will be a great time of ministry, but much prayer and energy will be needed as well. Please pray for our family as we are apart more this week. Pray for Erin as she balances ministry and our ever more adventurous kids. Pray for myself that God will bring about divine appointments to share Him this week, for quality times with our family, and for energy and strength for whatever the week may bring. Our other bowling leagues are in full swing and are doing great. We do have room for more bowlers though, so if you know anyone in our area who would be interested, please let us know.
Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support!
This week at the Rec Center we have a missions team from Texas that will be putting on a daily VBS. Last year, this same group put on a VBS that averaged over 40 kids a day. We are really excited to see what God will do at this year’s Camp Mighty Warrior! Please pray that God will use this week and that man kids will make decisions to follow Christ!
