Its getting warm here in Kentucky and I am on the road a lot on the these sunny late spring/summer days. Currently I am traveling to 8 counties visiting high and middle schools recruiting students to join us at FCA Leadership Camp this summer. Beginning in June I will be driving all over Kentucky helping with Basketball camps, a wrestling camp, Leadership Camp, FCA trainings and much more. This is where our need/prayer request comes in. Last fall the A/C in my little car died. With the Winter months coming on I knew I wouldn’t need air and so I put off getting it fixed. Now things are getting quite toasty and I definitely need some cool air or I turn into a sweaty puddle. I found out today that I have to have a hose replaced on my car and to get the a/c hose replaced, labor, and any coolant replaced it will take almost $300. I have scheduled an appointment for this Friday at 1pm to get the work done and am praying and trusting that financially I will be able to do so. Please pray with me that I can get this issue fixed on Friday with just one trip to the mechanic and no more problems. Pray for God’s provision of the finances to take care of the issue. And lastly, please just pray that my little car will keep running for a long time and be a great tool for me to use to share the love of Christ on campuses all over KY!
I (Andy) am writing this after a very exciting week at the Lee County Recreational Center. After being with out AC for over a year and a half we now have cool air at the Rec Center!!! Not only is this a good thing for personal comfort, but we are excited because it has honestly been so hot that we have had many patrons that had given up bowling and coming out due to the heat. We are so very thankful for the many that stuck with us and supported us through the heat. Now we are hoping and praying that the cool air will encourage those who stuck with us and bring back many old and new faces for the various events and outreaches at the Rec Center. Please keep us in your prayers as we need to raise over $3,000 to pay off the remainder of this project!
This past we were also blessed with a great week at Youth Haven Bible Camp. I had the opportunity to take students students to and from YHBC. Talking to the students as they were nervous on Monday and then so excited about all they had done at camp, the people they had met, and about what they had learned in chapel was very encouraging. We were also blessed to have our pastor, Terry Leap, be the chapel speaker at YHBC. He did an incredible job sharing from God’s Word with the students and it was great to spend time catching up too.
Maeven reached another milestone this week as she was able to spend part of the week going to Cubs Camp at YHBC all on her own. She loved swimming and riding horses especially. Judah is also getting to be a big boy and so far his favorite part of summer is discovering sunglasses. Erin is doing well and been keeping busy delivering puppies and keeping the kids involved in Cubs Camp and various other events.
Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support!
Greetings again from Beattyville, KY! It’s been another busy week here for us, but God has been great and blessing us. This week at the Rec Center we continued to work with our summer bowling leagues. Our summer leagues are lighter in turn out than our winter leagues, but in some ways we get an even better chance to talk with the bowlers. I (Andy) am bowling in the Thursday Night Men’s League. There are six team of three men in this league and I have really enjoyed the opportunity to get to know many of the guys and just have a great time of fellowship with them.
Erin and the kids really enjoyed hanging out at Youth Haven Bible Camp’s Cubs Camp this week. The kids got to go swimming with other pre-schoolers and ride horses. Judah was a big hit as he loved riding the merry-go-round with the big kids and Maeven still is loving riding the horses. On Thursday she got up and started telling me all about how she was going to ride the horses later in the day. I asked her which one was her favorite horse and she replied, “The Big One!!!” Erin has really enjoyed getting out more and interacting with the ladies who work at YHBC during the summer as well as the other mothers who bring their kids to Cubs Camp. Pray that this will lead to more friendship and opportunities to share the Gospel for Erin.
This week again we ask you to be praying for the air conditioning situation at the Rec Center. Due to power surges from the electric company’s transformers our three main ac units have been out all summer. The good news is that our insurance is covering the majority of the bill to get new units up and running. The bad news is that we still have not received the check from the insurance company and the place we are getting the units from still doesn’t have enough large units in stock for us. With all the heat in the building we have financially had our worst summer since opening the Rec Center, with the heat keeping many bowlers away. Please pray that everything, the check and the ac units, will come together soon so that we can cool off our facility. Please pray that when the air is up and running that the community will come back stronger than ever and we will get things on track financially where we can concentrate more on ministry outreach and not worry about the finances. God is good and we know He can do this and more!
Thank you so much for prayers and support!
With summer kicking into high gear, I have once again fallen behind on our updates and would like to apologize to all of you. Over the past few weeks we have been working at the Rec Center and doing some support raising as well. Last weekend we were in Ohio sharing with a church about our role in the ministry of KMM and how they could partner with us. We really had a great time getting to fellowship and meet some new people and hope to see more of them in the future.
This past week, Youth Haven Bible Camp had their first week of summer camp with their Annual Teen Camp. Because so many of the KMM staff have to be at camp we are pretty much at the Rec Center during the summer. Maeven and Judah still loved going up to camp in the evening though to get snow cones and even going out their this weekend after the campers left to enjoy some family time in the pool!
Please be praying for us at the Rec Center as we have had all kinds of maintenance problems this summer. Our main air conditioning system at the center has been down making for some very hot days. We are in the process of getting the machines fixed and working with the electric company to stop the power surges that keep messing with the AC system. In the midst of this heat the compressor on our walk-in freezer went down causing us to loose some of our food supply and have yet another problem to fix. Please be praying that we can get all these problems fixed and that the money to do so will come in to pay for these repairs and replacements.
This is also our big week that we head to Campbellsville University with our FCA Leadership team for another week of FCA Leadership Camp. Please keep us in your prayers for safety as we travel, that God will use this week to encourage and equip Erin and I, and that we will see our students grow in their walks with Christ and go home ready to change their schools for Christ.
As always thank you so much for your continued support and prayers!
