We hope this update finds you having a great Christmas season! It’s been a little while since we updated you on how Erin has been doing and so I wanted to be sure and do that.
Over the past couple of weeks Erin has been to several follow up appointments with surgeons and oncologists. Thankfully all these appointments have gone well and Erin is doing very well. All of her drains, pumps, and stitches have been removed and she is getting around much better now. So much so that she was able to go to our church’s Christmas outreach on Monday to hear Maeven sing!
The only “bump” in the road so far came from Erin’s visit to her oncologist last week. The final pathology found that a very tiny portion of the cancer had broken loose into the tissue and it was an aggressive form. The good news is that the double mastectomy still removed all the cancer and we were assured again that there will be no chemo or radiation. The only thing that changes is that Erin’s cancer had been a stage 1 instead of stage 0, and that there is a 2% chance of it returning in another area of the body one day. That being said we are still thankful that she is currently cancer free and know the doctors could never really say that she would never have cancer again anyways.
As we head into Christmas our family has much to be thankful for. We have seen God do amazing things this year. Thank you so much for loving Erin and our family and for praying for us!
