It’s been awhile since our last post and lots has been going on that we are excited to let you know about!
June was packed with camp, camp and more camp! Youth Haven Bible Camp kicked off another camp season of camps for teens, grade school kids, and two weeks of camps for special needs campers. During each week of these camps Maeven and Judah both enjoyed participating in “Cubs Camp.” This is a day camp held at YHBC for kids that are too young for overnight camps. Judah usually only made it a half a day and Maeven was a our trooper who went all day everyday!
Our big moment in June was our annual trip to FCA Leadership Camp. This year we took 6 students with us who will either be in the 8th or 9th grade this coming school year. It was a totally new group from past years and they did awesome as they were trained in how to share their Faith and defend it too. Erin and I both were able to attend groups for leaders and be encouraged through our time will FCA staff and other leaders and volunteers. Maeven and Judah both participated in a Jr. FCA camp for the kids of staff and volunteers. The highlight was for sure seeing them get up in front of the entire camp and sing! Please be praying for our students as we now work with them to take what they have learned at camp and impact their school, friends, family, and community for Christ!
July was a very busy month for us a the Rec Center. With camp going on we were short staffed at the Rec Center and so I (Andy) put in quote a bit of time there. However, even though the hours were long I was blessed for the opportunity to meet some new people in our community and others vacationing in the area, with whom I could share about the ministry of the Rec Center and about the love of Jesus. In late July, the Sunshine Campers from YHBC’s special needs camp were brought to the Rec Center for bowling parties. The campers had a blast bowling and many of the had even more fun getting milkshakes and pizza!
The last week of July, we were once again blessed by a group from Kilgore Bible Church in Kilgore, TX who put on a Vacation Bible School for our local kids. The theme this year was being an agent for Christ. All week long the students were taught Bible stories, played games and even made boats all week which they raced on Friday. Maeven participated in the Bible School and had a blast making new friends and learning more about Jesus. Several kids raised their hands that they knew they needed Jesus, so please be in prayer for these kids as we follow up with them.
As we are now in August, please be praying for us as we are getting ready for a busy month of preparing for fall ministries. Our students head back to school this week and in a couple of weeks Maeven and Judah will be starting pre school for the first time! Thank you for your continued prayers and support!
