June 2, 2013 Owens Family Update…

IMG_2021The weather is definitely letting us know that we are officially into summer time here in Beattyville.  Hot and busy days have been the norm this past week for sure.

On Sunday night last week, I went with our FCA Leadership team to speak at Beattyville Church of the Nazarene about FCA and taking our students to leadership camp this summer.  One of our students, Zack, also spoke at his home church on Sunday morning to share with them about Camp.  God really blessed and between both churches over $550 was collected for taking our students and chaperones to camp.  Later in the week someone else made a donation for another $250 helping us get even closer to our $2,000 goal.  Please keep praying for us that the needed camp finances will come in.  With what we have already raised and with what has been promised we still need to raise about $300 more.  God is good and we know this remaining amount will be provided!

On Thursday night, I had the opportunity to go with my mom to a workshop on how to use Google+ and Google Places to promote the Lee County Rec Center and Youth Haven Bible Camp.  It was really interesting to find out new ways to draw interest and internet traffic to these ministries.  By the end of the week the Rec Center, was up and running on Google+ and Google Places.  If you are on either of these sites or know of people who are and are heading our way please direct them to check us out!

IMG_2020This weekend my home church, Bear Track Bible Church, hosted a service weekend at Youth Haven Bible Camp.  They used this weekend to help get YHBC ready for camp, but also use it to teach their students about service/servanthood and prepare them for future missions trips.  BTBC asked Erin and I to come share in their Saturday morning chapel service about our ministries with KMM and also for me to do a message about service.  We shared about the Rec Center and FCA, and Erin also shared about The Well.  I spoke to the students about how their are no small acts of service and how God can use our little to do much.  I really felt like God led me to the devotion I shared with the students and pray that he will take small words and use them to do much in the lives of the students we spoke to.

Golf scrambleThis coming week is going to be busy as we are getting ready for round 2 of trying to have our annual Golf Scramble fund raiser.  On Saturday we are praying for good weather and a great turn out as we try to raise some much needed funds for the Rec Center.  We also will be meeting with our FCA Leadership team this week where we hope to get a game plan to raise the final $300 needed for camp.

So, how can you be praying this week?  First of all pray for our Golf scramble that we will have great weather and a great turn out!   Also, pray for us as we try to raise the rest of the money needed for FCA Leadership Camp.  Next, pray for the Rec Center as we need to get our air conditioners fixed.  Pray that our AC man will come and that it will be an easy fix, as people don’t like to bowl when they are too hot!  Lastly, please pray for Maeven and Judah as they have once again been battling some seasonal allergies.  They are doing well, but runny noses seem to be the norm in our family lately!

Thank you so much for your support and prayers!
