Weekend of Champions update…

A panoramic view of sports competitions at Weekend of Champions

This Saturday, November the 10th, Erin and I along with one of our teacher sponsors, Jessica Napier, took 9 of our middle and high school FCA students to the FCA Weekend of Champions.  This event was held by Central Kentucky FCA at the Lexington Christian Academy.  Students were able to hear testimonies from a major league baseball player, other students, and hear from Gavin Duerson the main speaker who shared in two sessions.  Students also spent time in worship led by Christian band Live Fish and were able to attend buzz groups where they were able to choose from a variety of topics that interested them.  In the middle of the day our students competed in a variety for competitions such as volleyball, free throw shooting, soccer, softball throw, football throw, and various other races.  Perhaps the most exciting time of the day was when the SOAR Dunk team from Liberty University put on an exhibition of crazy dunks and flips using trampolines.  Our student absolutely love it!

During the main speaker sessions our students were challenged about believing in who Jesus truly was and is and also to be disciple makers.  The students definitely heard a powerful message from God’s word yesterday.  While none of our students made public decsions for Christ many students gave their lives to Christ yesterday.  Please pray that the events and messages of yesterday will draw our students into closer relationships with Christ.  God is doing some great things in FCA with our students.  Pray that we can continue to impact them for Christ!
